Two Wheeling With Myths and Mountains:
Pedaling and Motorcycling in Vietnam
INCLINE VILLAGE, NV (September 2006) – In 2007, Myths and Mountains takes to the road in Vietnam on two wheels to explore the best of the country’s colorful culture and landscapes. Travelers have their choice of destinations and conveyances – the Mekong Delta on a bicycle or the Ho Chi Minh Trail on a motorcycle.
“These journeys introduce travelers to Vietnam’s people, landscapes, culture and history from a unique perspective – the seat of a motorcycle or bicycle,” said Dr. Antonia Neubauer, founder and president of Myths and Mountains. “Learning about the political, social and economic significance of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and life along the Mekong Delta add fascinating dimensions to these adventures.”
Full Throttle on the Ho Chi Minh Trail
Ride a brand-new Honda motorcycle along the Ho Chi Minh Trail from Hanoi to Saigon on the first trip of its kind to be offered by a U.S. company.
The journey features a host of historic sights, from Ho Chi Minh’s birthplace and the Chinese fishing town of Hoi An to the hill retreat of Dalat. Travelers are accompanied by a war veteran turned guide, guaranteeing lively discussions about Vietnam past, present and future.
Myths and Mountains’ 19-day “Motorcycling the Ho Chi Minh Trail” tour is scheduled for January 29-February 13 and February 20-March 7, 2007; land cost per person is from $5,695. Participants meet in Hanoi and depart from Saigon.
Pedaling the Mekong Delta
Bicyclists can watch life unfold in the Mekong Delta from the seat of a new 21-speed Taiwanese bicycle. Highlights include exploring the Mekong River and its canals, visiting floating markets, eating and sleeping in local homes and hotels, and watching residents as they plant rice and go about their daily lives.
The journey begins with sightseeing in Saigon and ends with two luxurious days on the beach in Phu Quoc, an island on the southern tip of Vietnam.
Myths and Mountains’ 12-day “South Vietnam: Bicycles and Beaches” adventure is offered March 4-15 and November 4-15, 2007; land cost per person is $2,495. The trip begins and ends in Saigon.
